BOOKS and STUDY MATERIAL:

Poynter's Parachute Manuals are not available - I have some Vol 1 made before there was a Vol 2 available for $60 (includes shipping in USA) while they last.

The following documents are recommended as study guides to prepare for the FAA written exam for Senior Parachute Rigger.

Also, the website www.exams4pilots.com provides access to a subset of the FAA written exam questions for free or you may purchase a more complete set of questions to use with your smart phone, computer or in MP3 format. If you are using the free tool online, here is a link to the figures for the questions FAA-CT-8080-4F. Pages 129-146 of the PDF file are figures for Parachute Riggers.

TOOLS:

Supplied during the course. You may purchase any, all, or none of them.

TESTS:

Done at the end of the course. Written/$165 (see note 1)- Practical/$250

PRE-REQUISITES:

Be able to pack a square main.

ADDITIONAL RATINGS:

Chest and or Seat course after the back course. Starts on Friday, January 19. One rating/$350- Two ratings/$600 (includes the test). Tests for chest/seat ratings will be on 01-22-2018.

MILITARY RIGGERS:

With a letter from someone in charge saying that you are in the military with 20 pack jobs of at least one type. You can have all 3 (chest, seat, & back.) You take a written test on the regulations only. This is called Military Competency and can only be done for the Senior Rigger Certification. Cost of Written Test=$165 (see note 1)

BACK ROUNDS:

After the course and during the added rating packing there will be additional training for those who want to pack round back pilot rigs. Cost is $150. If you are taking an added rating, the cost is included in the added rating charge.

MASTER RIGGER:

Starts on 01/17/2018. This is a course for Master Rigger for those who can sew and need a little tuning up for the test. Registration is limited.

Note 1 - Airman Knowledge Testing (the written exam) is administered by commercial testing centers authorized by the FAA to administer the test. The price is set by the testing center. Price listed on this Para Loft web page was current on 01/19/2017 but may be changed at any time.
